Since I just posted Chet's nine pound hammer from Guitar Country, I thought it would be interesting to post the version he recorded with Merle.

You can decide which version you like best!

  • I think you'll find this recording is Chet and John Prine, not Chet and Merle-probably the best version!

  • I took it off my Chet and Merle Cd.

    Who's John Prine?

  • And then there's Eddie Pennington, an accolyte in the line of great pickers who learned from Mose Rager. Check him out!

  • Love this. I've put a version of this over on my channel too.

  • Still love this and am in AWE of Merle and Chet.

  • I have Cd, buy to 15 year's old,Good only one

  • It's flat out amazing... Mose Rager tries something new, Merle changes it a bit, Chet picks up on Merle, then Tommy Emmanuel takes it up a notch, and now new guitarists like Adam Rafferty are combining Jazz and Be-Bop with fingerstyle, bringing it to a NEW level... amazing what ONE person trying something new can do... never be afraid to buck the system and come up with your own way of doing something -- look what might happen in a hundred years or so! :-) PEACE from Western KY! :-)

  • I've known Chester,Merle,Mose,Ike and Yandell all my life!! Lord the pickin I heard growing up!

  • No one - except Merle - could pick as well as Chet. Wow, what two fabulous guitar players. I have heard of John Prine but never knew any of his music. It's great to see The Louvin Brothers here along with fabulous picker Paul Yandell. Thanks for this classic guitar piece. - Paula

  • Yes, I had this record since about 1978

  • Thanks for the great info!
