This product was sent to me at no cost - I tested it for two months in the kitchen. My review is wholly honest and not based on additional payment from the Gaiam company. how do you replace the filter?

@dgordick It's in the lid, so you just order a new one or go to the hardware store and show them, it is commonly found charcoal filter.

@ILuvCaroline I love it! I use it less in the winter due to the cold weather not allowing me to compost as well. Can't wait for summer to get here.

@TheCasualGardener Its ok...But i find myself skipping the pail process and just discarting Potato peals directly into my sweet chilly pepper plant....My sweet chilly pepper plant looks great.I live in the country in PR so its easy to get rid of stuff i put in the pail...I think the pail will work alot better in a urban setting,Now it does look good on the counter.
