this "argument" reveals the theist using it to be disengenuine in the first place... a real christian is someone who truly believes that after this life a human soul is still existing and seeking to be reunited with it's origin. someone with real beliefs does not encourage a non-believer to 'fake' an interest in God to work as some type of afterlife insurance.

so please go out and stop bothering me. i hate people creating circular arguments when they ignore facts i state. then try to make themselves sound and feel like the better person. not saying you did all that but the circular part. be more open minded and i hope you learn more not just about the bible's truths, but about life in general as many people regardless of religion whether catholic,atheist, or even christian may not realize why there lives are where there at. good lcuk.

@lifecon1 also now that i remember, its psalm. Also again please for the love of god,logic,correctness,etc RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!! same answer for the same mistakes every single time. SMH. if you don't understand what i mean by it being a psalm, then thats assurance enough you all need to research. there is so much info easily availble that YOU guys have to put real efforts into finding. not just ignore what we say. thats the big flaw majority of you guys have...fail. -
@VanDammesCokeDealer who was right? Christians. again if you and anyone else was actually reading the whole conversation, i told fact. i said he did not do enough research. twisted,took out of context,etc. the old law IS the OLD law. i should have added to look up the original text to get a specific definition of what he quoted. Also to recite the verse and the surrounding ones. now from this point if you want to believe he is right, then that's opinion vs. what i stated.

@lifecon1 If by "beat the old commenter (sic)" you mean you declared yourself the winner, ran away, and ignored his direct Biblical quote that thoroughly refuted your argument, showing that you, in fact, are the one with no idea what the Bible actually says-- then yeah, you beat him! Jesus directly and un-ambiguously said the old testament law still stands, but decades later Paul The Apologist said it doesn't. That's why Christianity is insane-- even if you believe that shit, who was right?

Pascal's Wager, however true it may be, is truly a weak form of evangelism. It is by the sovereign grace of God that we have faith. You cannot simply believe. It is funny that the atheist says, "All you have to do is prove that there is a God, you just haven't shown me any proof," while using every proof of God to deny Him. If what you say of yourselves were true, you would be agnostic and would never enter into this conversation. You are utterly inconsistent to your own worldview. Sad really.

@DaToNyOyO vast number of Christians? and I forgot how long ago i beat the old commenter. lol. Christians believe exactly what i said. if someone is telling you differently, they are either ignorant,lying,both, or not christian. plain,simple,logic,fact.

"That's old testament law that was abolished when Jesus came to give us grace and allow us to be forgiven for our sins."
Not according to a vast number of christians. Are you guys all reading the same book? Clearly not..

All the religions promise so much, and fail to deliver on any of it.
All except for one:
Odin swore an end to all Ice Giants... I don't see many Ice Giants around any more.
~ I think we have a winner ~

@gerudovillain if you "investigated atheism heavily" I'd like to hear what you found. That wording says to me is that you have no idea what atheism is or why people say they are atheist. I could be wrong, people mis-speak. Your claim of "examining the consequences" is disingenuous. Isn't that what any smarmy thug could say? "I just want you to understand what will happen if you don't hand over your wallet?". It's a threat. Curious, did you "choose" a common religion to your area as most likely?

This argument is called Pascal's Wager and it is one of the most deceptive, insulting, and disingenuous argument ever made.

I've heard this argument called "What if you are wrong?" The point of this statement is not to convert you due to rewards or fear, but to make you consider the consequences of not thinking the whole matter out. Christianity is either something you need to study and reject or accept. The information is available and legal in this country. But do not fail to learn about anything which billions say carries such a consequence. Especially when the responsibility is of an individual nature.

@gerudovillain
I wonder... do you follow your own advice? Have you read the Koran and prayed to Allah to determine if it was true? Have you asked Allah to reveal himself to you?
What about the Hindu Vedas? Have you read them?
The Book of Mormon?
The fact that billions of people share a common superstition does not make that superstition any more likely to be true.
Every testable claim made by Christians has been investigated and come up short.

you are absolutely right. that is my point. except the last part about testing claims. anyone can design a test to pass or fail. historical documents can be proven true or false though. It still depends on how much you are willing to accept without sensory evidence. Before becoming a christian I investigated atheism heavily. Christianity was next in line due to where I live. New age philosophy is easy to reject. Hinduism and Islamic teachings are still worth researching.

@gerudovillain
You "investigated atheism heavily" ...??? Since atheism makes no claims of it's own (atheism is just the absence of religious claims) - what exactly did you investigate?

@azsuperman01 it's sad/funny how some people so easily believe they are making sense. Does he believe he has disproved atheism?

@TheSoSoAgnostic I'm sure he thinks so. LOL!
