@oommggdude I think for questions that have more objective answers, that might just be giving background information or maybe a description of the person's career, you can send over beforehand, because you really want those answers to be clear and concise, and thought out. Questions that demand more of an opinion shouldn't be sent over beforehand. Those are the questions that you really want honest and refreshing answers for, and asking them on the spot is better for that.

Some of the things he's saying seems very useful, but I don't like the idea of getting your subjects to paraphrase their own answers.
These examples seem to be commonly used in conspiracy type documentaries and reality TV, and not the true-to-life, fly-on-the-wall type features that actually document the lives of people.
I'm just saying I prefer Maysles Broothers type documentaries over Michael Moore style any day, in which case these tactics take away from the realism of a documentary.

I wouldn't send the person to be interviewed the list of questions. Preparation gives them time to think about what people want them to say, as opposed to what they truely think.
