Inspiring words from long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, who fought through injury and asthma on August 7 and 8 to complete about half of her intended 103-mile, 60-hour-minimum swim from Cuba to Key West. Nyad, who holds the record for the world's longest ocean swim, attempted the same feat in 1978, but abandoned the swim after almost 42 hours due to bad weather and strong currents. Here, she talks passionately about the importance of living in the moment, her rigorous training, and how it feels to be an athlete at 62.
Shortly after this story went to press, Diana Nyad attempted for a third time to swim across the Florida Straits from Cuba to Florida. She swam 92.2 miles in 36 hours before multiple Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish stings forced her to abandon the effort. She has called the result a "huge disappointment." Will she try again? Only she might know.

i wonder if she used creatine or other drugs to make it at some point. If she did, she's nothing to me just a big lie. If she didn't, all my respect.
