I would also like to know whether ladders would work instead of signs. 2 ppl have asked and no-one answered. Maybe no-one has tried ladders?

I made this but not nearly as many mobs spawn for me as you had. Plus a lot somehow live even though the first floor is 26 blocks high and the rest go to the top.

@GovernmentAgentJym13- probably your water flow what I did was let the mobs fall to the bottom then dug an additional 35 blocks down with a 3 by 3 hole and had the water stop there they fell and most died *(95% im guessing) then had a single lava trap for the occasional survivor. I went with three platforms and have 6 floors and I am not even 1/3 of the way down and getting 10000 an hour.

This is an awesome mob tower. It seems like they've finally mastered the art of the quick kill mob tower, to the point that anyone with a bit of time can throw a pretty good one together. It would be especially powerful with the building technique mentioned in the YT video "Minecraft - Build Large Structures With No Materials", which uses just lava and water to build tall walls. Could speed up the speed of building really major mob traps immensely!

This is awesome! I just finished mine and it works pretty well but how do you keep it from clogging up with spiders?
