West Africa's civil wars were almost exclusively funded by the trade in 'blood diamonds'. But now, the UN and EU is tightening the trade in precious gems through the Kimberly Process.

Diamonds are worthless pieces of metal, there is a heavy abundance of them, but becuase the industry has fooled people into buying them, this false belief has people funding bloody civil wars just to sell diamonds. They withold stock in the Kimberley Mines becuase of the abundance, and to keep the price high. diamonds are worthless. they were made profitable through marketing starting with DeBeers, and so its remained ever since.
