These female ichneumon wasps are but two of innumerable harmless insects that were killed inadvertently, as non-target species, in an effort to reduce the mosquito population using fogged adulticide the previous evening at TRSP. Photographed at the Turtle River State Park, North Dakota (08 July 2011).

  • Wow!!! If you find anymore dead ones, could you send them to me?? :)

  • @phasmatodea1 Yes, although I don't often come across dead specimens. These two females were given to the Turtle River State Park Naturalist, who was eager to use them as reference specimens for science educational purposes.

  • Ok I see. Also if you come across any other Pelecinus could you catch some for me... I have a very broad entomological collection here at my house and I study Hymenoptera so any specimens available would be great! I hope that it isn't too much trouble!

    Thank you! :)
