Giant Ichneumon Wasps (Ichneumonidae: Megarhyssa atrata) Dead Females

These female ichneumon wasps are but two of innumerable harmless insects that were killed inadvertently, as non-target species, in an effort to reduce the mosquito population using fogged adulticide the previous evening at TRSP. Photographed at the Turtle River State Park, North Dakota (08 July 2011).

@phasmatodea1 Yes, although I don't often come across dead specimens. These two females were given to the Turtle River State Park Naturalist, who was eager to use them as reference specimens for science educational purposes.

Ok I see. Also if you come across any other Pelecinus could you catch some for me... I have a very broad entomological collection here at my house and I study Hymenoptera so any specimens available would be great! I hope that it isn't too much trouble!
