Deltic 22 Royal Scots Grey (55022) is seen on the outward and return legs of the Dorset Deltic Explorer on the 3rd September 2011 between Crewe and Weymouth. The outward journey is seen at Ladywood near Droitwich Spa and then secondly RSG is seen taking a symphonic run at the Lickey Incline, passing through Bromsgrove on the return working. messed up the first shot, just completely forgot to zoom out before it was too late, not best pleased with the shot but it creates an interesting effect on the carriages as they round the curve.

  • Who organised this tour ?

  • @RuberyB451 Pathfinder tours

  • Two superb shots Greg, not zooming on the first is often found on professional videos, so that's OK and the second records the unmistakable sound of those Napier engines to perfection...Bob

  • @robmasterman thanks Bob, much appreciated. We could hear the deltic for a good few minutes before it appeared. Hearing that drone through the night air really gave me goosebumps - something I'll treasure!

  • Lovely sound.

  • @EMuksteam sure is!

  • @TheMysticEgg Something else you might notice in the nightime shot is the lack of light in the back coaches. The batts were failing as we went north and at Stafford the back 4 coaches were in complete darkness! However on the flipside met Martin and had a nice chat with him. Nice chap btw.

  • 2 fantstic pieces of footage indeed.

  • @vorlonb3 thanks! It's unfortunately part of the hobby that can't always be avoided as I've found out too many times! Greg

  • @wattass7 glad to be of service, would have loved to have seen these beasts in their heyday. Thanks for the kind words...Greg

  • @jackharry11 cheers Jack, not shocking but a bit annoying ;)

  • @MEKAYJIMMYNATHE Thanks, was really something special to see.
