Shorter arrow is light (low mass). Their very tiny ivory tips increases the dynamic spine and these two spesifications make an arrow that would fly further. Of course, a lighter arrw would absorb less energy from the bow. Therefore there should be an optimisation between the energy absorption and mass decrease. Ottoman flight archers could reach disances over 800 metres with 58-62 cm long arrows. There were other types of over draws like majra but for flight shooting they have used siper.
