  • @ShawnMeier Kind of stupid to use a leash when practicing self arrest.. think about it.

  • @b4igetu As a mountaineer, I always use a leash. Kinda stupid not to unless you are ice climbing where you can always rap back down safely without it. Quite frequently I will tie the leash into a harness and use it as a self belay on steep snow slopes with high consequence for failure. The procedures for this are well documented in mountaineering the freedom of the hills.

  • You got it wrong. Mistake 1 was falling in the first place.

    Also I don't think allot of people use leashes. Never seen a mountaineer do it, and most certainly not a ice climber.

  • mistake 2: failure to spread legs and weight upper body

  • Mistake #1: Ice axe wasn't tethered.
