  • Hi, nice one !

Where did you get this portafilter for the Silvia ?

I always have trouble to have the good volument in the standard one ...

  • If I'm not mistaken this is Synesso's double basket. Fits nicely in the Silvia PF. Only downside is that this basket demands approx 20 g of ground coffee to achieve proper shots... Not so nice if you have expensive coffee and have a bad shot...

  • Wow, my Silvia squeaks just like yours, when you clean it. I thought something might be loose...

  • beautiful

  • can you store the beans in the hopper without getting them stale?

  • Thanks for the offer, but I use a Compak K-3 Touch nowadays and the randomly attached scale is history! :)

  • Hello,

I'm using a Rocky + Oscar (Simonelli) combo and Rocky doesn't seem to grind fine enough for this one, I also heard people complaining about certain Silvia\Rocky combos.

If your volume is too large and it comes out diluated (or light) try to teflon your Rocky (This is not the place to explain how, PM me if you're interested) you can get +-10 extra steps. By the way, the number means nothing between two grinder, every Rocky is different so your 4 can be my 10.

  • Good for you your espresso! My grinder has its real zero (i.e. where the discs touch) at minus 4 on the scale. Thusly, I'm really grinding at setting 8... Normally I grind at settings between 8-11.

  • Ok, thanks. I use black cat, which is still pretty fresh, and Im on about 12 on the same grinder you have. You seem to be on about 4 - a massive difference. That is why I asked. But Im using rougly a 30 lb tamp and Im extracting a double shot in about 25 seconds with more than a decent crema on it and good colour so I guess it's going fairly well for now. I might post a video so that you and the other experts out there can tell me where Im going wrong.

  • For espresso you have to grind quite fine. Sometimes, when the coffee gets old you need to grind even finer. And over dose. Presently I've got old coffee in the grinder that require almost 4 steps finer grind than one I have that is about a month old...
