Wow, I just shouted "AH!" when I saw this quest problem. Freaking amazing coincidence too that I also go to UT and I was having problem with the same format question.

@RarRarJake The law of cosines is basically an extension of the Pythagorean Theorem. It lets you find the sides of triangles that are not right triangles. You will see that if you put a right triangle into the law of cosines, it will give you the same results as if you had used the Pythagorean Theorem.
