Wow!!!
A THIRD version of Walter Huston performing this evergreen!
This is definitely a different recording of the two Brunswick 78s (1938 & 1944).
I wonder if this was an alternate take of the 1944 version and used for the film?

I heard this song by Walter Huston when I was a kid and it struck me as being nice, but sad at the time.
Now I am in my vintage years. The song is still as nice, but sadder still.
The invincible, sweet bird of youth has flown away..

A masterpiece - life is short, art is long.

For what it's worth: I saw the movie "September Affair" when I was a kid in 1950...Joseph Cotten & Joan Fontaine (the lovers) listened to Walter Huston singing "September Song" on record on a Victrola, but Jimmy Lydon playing the part of Johnny Wilson sang it 'live' in a bar in Italy as Fontaine was playing it on a piano with Cotten listening. The song was heard twice in the movie, first by Huston then by Lydon...I preferred Lydon's version.
