I think they were aiming for something that looked relevant today. Not that the execution was that great, but jelly bean buttons weren't going to cut it.

@Zenutheduck not so much the interior of the ship but the exterior and the phaser, commicators and tricorders. They looked like toys to me. The least they could've done was to explain that Matt Jefferies was killed on the ship with Kirks father to explain why there was such a drastic change. If they would've done this is the world of Star Wars the fans would've killed the director!
I'm all for the updating of Trek but, they could've done a better job.

I agree. In my opinion, I hope they do a second movie that focuses not only on the actual PLOT, but more of the favorite trio- Bones, Spock, and Kirk. The chemistry Deforest Kelly, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner had together was amazing. I want to see more of that trio!

@RoseGirl1192 I think it would be awesome if Scotty would refit the new enterprise to look a bit more like the classic on the outside of the ship and have the next movie retell a classic episode with a new twist since there has been a timeline change they could completely retool the story.

@leebarrett62 Most definately. I would love to see the Amok Time episode done in part of the next movie. I believe that would be interesting to see how they adapted it. Or Kahn!
