Elton John in the 1970's was his own genre of music!! Taupin/Elton up there with Lennon and McCartney for all time writing duo's! Their lyrics were insane!

I don't read it as anti-lesbian, anti-gay, or anti-woman. It's sounds like a fairly accurate chronicle of being a teenage queer in the 60s and 70s. God knows I can identify, and my time was the 90s.
