New Yorkers are finding out the hard way how their city is raising it's much-needed cash. They're being watched every step of the way and, if they put one foot out of line, they get hit in the pocket. RT's Marina Portnaya reports on how revenue-raising fines, are seeing liberties go up in smoke.

  • First make money from people buying your product.

Secondly make money from taxing the product more to "encourage" a more healthy lifestyle.

Then make money from fining them as they use it.

And then make even more money of them by raising their life and health insurance.

And at last make money from betting on their life insurance as to when and how (lung cancer) they die...

So many dumb people and so many ways to make money from them.. :D

  • The one thing I don't understand in all of this is why the fuck bikers are not allowed to bike on side-walks? Is it just me or is this the dumbest legislation ever passed? Seriously, would you prefer car-on-bike collissions on the main roads instead of harmless bike-on-person on the sidewalks? Making NY streets even more congested with bikers...wow, brilliant fucking idea!

  • They all do the same. I was fined with $400 in California for running a red light. They are desperate for money!

  • @KripDrip yea that blows, luckily i was born in my shitty country and not that one

  • smoking isnt a race. Stop comparing a stupid deadly choice to smoke cigarettes as the same as being black!

  • you aint seen nothing yet.

in Singapore you get executed for smoking or possessing any amount of marijuana while Alcohol drinkers get full rights to drink and possess as much alcohol as they want.

  • Wow, New York city is a dump.

  • @hungry4hotpockets Yea, bike lanes are the solution, the only difference is that I think they'd be much better placed on the sidewalks rather than the road. Put them on the outer edge of the sidewalks perhaps for the least contact with pedestrians or vehicles, a happy medium.

  • @Sugamari

Thank you! I am an arab and thats exactly why I don't like those " freedoms "

I got 3x 45 $ tickets for parking near my house, then the dumbass secretary who takes the money told me that I was lucky I didn't get my car towed....

I almost got arrested for having my hands in my pocket while the judge was speaking to me.

  • @ENJager Streets are crammed with cars but things like bike lanes are not accessible to cars: You can see cars bumper to bumper but the bike lanes are empty, unless the driver feels lucky in not getting a ticket. There are places in the city where bicyclists are closer to the sidewalks, have barricades to not allow drivers either in the bike lane or just to prevent them from getting hit.

Too bad this story didn't touch upon the morons who still ride their bikes in the middle of traffic .
