please oh please put the nerf sword down and use your shinai. I watch all your vids man, and this, is just......painful. A shinai strike is meant to hurt and if your opponents cant handle it, then they are not worth sparring.

@nagualshadow Thanks for the commenting however you don't understand the point of sparing.

@wolfmaster555 I guess 20 years of studying, practicing and sparring in the art of the sword means nothing. But thats fine. To me, using those is a step down in your training.

@nagualshadow To put it simply sparing in any style is not suppose to be painful. Not that I mind the pain I've had my fair share, but sparing is about testing your skills against another without worrying about harm to yourself and to another so their is a degree of holding back with s shinai. You can't hit to hard or you'll knock someone out or break a bone, but with these buffers swords which are used in dojos everywhere have a very small chance of hurting someone so you can go full force.

@nagualshadow Any other few key things to note is that Shinai were designed for the sport of kendo which uses armor. The shinia is built to have a bit of give when hitting the armor so no hurt is given onto the person inside. This armor was used in sparing, and sport. As for the buffer swords my friend and I studied saber, Navy cutlass, and I have research messer sword style and their are things we simply cannot use with the shinai that we can use in fact with the sword buffer sword.

I had two of those! They broke on first match...

@WulffSuzaki Yeah they are good for what they are but they are not suited for full contact sparing. Really only light contact.
