What is wrong with combining and re-arranging? People do that all the time.  Especially he wants to have some Chinese flavour to it and some tone that people familiar with.

Well the point is he tried to pass it off like his own original music and that just wasnt the right thing to do even if it does sound lovely

it actually is the same song by the same composer. they didn't copy it, tan dun allowed it so it isn't considered copying
