  • @verukohp13 I only started mocking people after they mocked me.

  • @dathwampeer Well I guess all I can say is to each their own. But if you want others to respect your opinion you should respect the fact that these ppl are playing a game that they enjoy, and maybe it's not for you, but it doesn't give you a right to mock and demean and then complain when ppl argue against you.

  • @verukohp13 The same could be achieved by wearing a sling.

You're not going to convince me that the broom is anything but a stupid joke. It completely ruins the game for me.

  • @dathwampeer Plus think about it. Because of the broom all their passing and scoring is done one handed. For the entire game. How many players can do that?

  • @dathwampeer LARPing: "Yay! I'm flying. I'm a wizard! Oh no, Merlin's Beard, got knocked off my broom, gotta recover quick!" Quidditch: Fucking Beater, *runs to goal post, taps it, then gets back in the game* Completely different. Besides, when playing with the official brooms which are a lot shorter and more durable, you hardly notice them anymore and they barely get in the way.

  • @verukohp13 They're running around on a broom. How much more LARPing can it get.

Like I said, the rest of the game looks fine, but that just really kills it.

  • @dathwampeer I'm sorry for that, hadn't seen the date. I have no issue with other people's opinions. I do when people judge a book by it's cover. If you've actually seen a game live, and played the sport and said "I don't like it", sure, to each their own. But when you're judging something that you've never experienced, mind you in a somewhat bigoted way "LARPing" "pretending to be a wizard", no, just no. They aren't pretending to be wizards, and loads of ppl play who've never read the series.

  • @verukohp13 You're attacking a 2 month old opinion because you don't agree with it.... and you're telling me I need to get over myself?

For me, the brooms are a deal breaker. It turns what would otherwise have been a good looking sport into LARPing.

I'm not interested in pretending to be a wizard from a shite, plagiarists handbook of a series.

  • @dathwampeer The game is derived from the book series. In the book series it's played on BROOMS, the commissioner admitted that he wouldn't get rid of the brooms not only because of the symbolism of the game, but also because it keeps the game looking a little ridiculous. Sure it appears childish, but it's fun to play, entertaining to watch, and people from all over the world are coming together in the name of competition. Get over yourself.
