@danwat1234 The thermistor is embedded in the windings of the electric motor to prevent them from burning out. The motor would have had to be in an intense fire for a very long time for the internal windings to get heated up from the outside enough to trip it. By this time the cables would have burnt away so it would have not made any difference

It's funny how guys are commenting like this happened yesterday. This was like 20 years ago. Yeah, there's probably a few dept's like this still, but fortunately they are the exception not the rule.

@ariccastro The residential openers, at least mine, they will just not engage if the motor overheats. It's won't go down or up until it trips back on after cooling down.
