Big Brown didn't have a bad day.
His horseshoe came off a little. Another horse stepped on it when Big Brown got boxed in.
He couldn't run as well with a dislodged horseshoe..... and even with that issue, Big Brown kept up with the leaders but just couldn't go full throttle because of the shoe.

Big Brown was definitely a Triple Crown winner, it was not the horse it was the jockey. Big Brown was faster than any other horse on the field, he just got spooked because he bumped into like 3 horses.

big brown was an amazing horse... he had speed and he had stamina.. he had a bad day at belmont... then went on to win his last 2 races after that.... hes very special. end of story

To me, the most disappointing part of the Big Brown story isn't the failure to win the triple crown. Kent Desormeaux said in several interviews that he never pushed Big Brown to full throttle. It's a shame that we'll never know what kind of speed this amazing horse really had. He had the potential to be as legendary as Secretariat.
