  • The Salvation Army also associates the tune with the words:- When I survey The Wondrous Cross.

  • My great grandfathers cousin wrote this! He was humming the tune on a train when a co-passenger said " That's a deep harmony" Hence the name.

Some good stuff comes out of Yorkshire tha knows!

  • Beautiful!

  • Beautiful playing, gentlemen. Thanks.

  • Wonerful !

  • Don't think I know the words, which are by Isaac Watts, from the Salvation Army or from school assembly. Think I picked them up from the Methodist Church I attended before being touched by the Spirit at the Salvation Army.

  • Sweet is the work, my God, my King, To praise Thy name, give thanks, and sing; To show Thy love by morning light, And talk of all Thy truth at night. My heart shall triumph in the Lord, And bless His works and bless His word: Thy works of grace, how bright they shine! How deep Thy counsels, how divine! And I shall share a glorious part, When Thy pure word has cleansed my heart, And fresh supplies of joy are shed, Like holy oil, to cheer my head.

Is it possible to publish the words here, please?

  • Good sound from a small group.

  • Wonderful moving tune especially when one knows the words associated with it. I always think that, whilst an easy tune to play the actual notes, it requires skill and feeling to play well. One of those pieces known to many bandsmen, wether Salvationist or not. I recall being deeply moved by LLangollen Silver Band playing this on the main street one evening during the Eisteddfodd week. Thanks for sharing. Mo!
