Now this..... this right here is good.

Anybody see the resemblance to Alvin Ailey's "Revelations" in this, or at least how Ailey was influenced by this movement?

Here in France, thanks to the Collectif Pour la Danse Jazz: CodaJazz, Mr Cole's 100th birthday has been celebrated !!

With immense respect to Chita Rivera, this clip is not about Chita Rivera. It's about Jack Cole. She's not on his wavelength in my opinion. She's a hot and imprecise dancer and he's all about microscopic precision and a cool tone. However, it's not a contest and I don't wish to spark angry commentary from this. It's just my opinion. This clip shows a great American dancer, Jack Cole, and leaves us wanting more.

I got to meet Chita backstage in L.A. at her One-Woman Show, and she was AMAZING in person!! No "Star" attitude whatsoever. Just a beautiful woman, an outstanding performer, and an incredible inspiration to all of us aging dancers!!

This dated from about 1956 or 1957, just pre West Side Story. The lady is still performing, I know this because I had the very great pleasure of seeing her in January of this year, 2010, and she can still blow performers half her age right out of the water. Still singing, still doing some dancing, one of the great legends of all time, NOW AND FOREVER!!

Rynglitter, you are a legend! Thank you sooooo much.

Chita's the best. Too bad she's wearing
a gown, it covers up those beautiful legs
of hers. Thanks for posting.
