vintage synth demo with by RetroSound

some typical bass, lead, fx and sync-sounds

The Pro-One is very versatile and my favorite bass-synth together with the Minimoog.

no external effects used, pure Pro-One sound :-)

  • forget about the microkorg, buy a dave smith's mopho or a good 2º hand monophonic synth, you should get any of those for less money than the microkorg. unless you have no ears you will hear the difference. If you haven't got a midi keyboard buy a cheap one, you would get that FAT bass for less than 450 euros.

  • Yazoo's Don't Go is made with Pro One - I think 4 of them but I am not sure.

I have the exact settings for the lead, bass and the arpeggio. Vince Clarke published the sounds in a magazine at that time.

Amazing synth, very tight bass and full of energy.

I want to pick one - if I find it in great condition...

  • My buddy has a MicroKorg and I love the sounds it makes, but comparing it to the Pro-One is apples to oranges. I understand that some people may not like the Pro-One, still doesn't change the facts. Sequential Circuits Pro-One is a "TOP 3 " synth to date. It creates unique a FAT frequencies and gives that warm analogue feel to anything I use it with. The Pro-One is timeless thus far.

  • @shawnguess I guess it's a matter of a opinion. I read this comment on the VSE site: "have you ever used a pro one ? i have both here the pro one & the mopho. the mopho sounds 99 % like a pro one if you know how to use it. and in the final mix you will never hear the difference."

Anyway... I love my DSI Mopho Keyboard - it really does sound amazing!

  • @dep1001 i have the mopho and the pro one: the mopho is not anything like the pro one in sound -- heritage only.

  • @ikazlar yes and also depeche mode - i just can't enought :-)

  • @ikazlar Most of the sounds on the Yazoo album "Upstairs at Eric's" was actually made on his Pro-One! Great record I might add! :-) In a documentary he said that the Pro-One was probably his favorite monophonic synth.

The DSI Mopho is a great synth as well, and it has the same Curtis filter as the old Sequential stuff and can actually get pretty close to the Pro-One!

  • @ProBassLessons I've got a juno 106, and recently picked up a pro one.. it was my largest gear purchase to date. I dont regret it for a second. The pro uno complements the 106 nicely.

  • I had one of these back in the early 80's but I never really to use it very well. Wound up trading it for a bass guitar.

  • @ikazlar The intro of Yazoo's don't go,was made with ARP-2600

  • GOD I have to get one of these

  • Nice but I only really like the bass end on this and perhaps a Moog Phatty or Voyager is a better purchase?
