I agree with you but I guess he released this in the early eighties. West Iran was invaded by Iraq, and all the press put the blame on Iran, showing footage of iranian entrenchement and religious fervor...
I guess he wrote that song "under influence"!

This is a great reggae song but the lyrics are a bit off... Wayne Wade probably meant Iraq not Iran. Iraq invaded Iran (which had no nukes) without provocation, using his chemical weapons.
The Iranians who protested for freedom are not forgotten, and their voices continue to be heard.

It was the CIA (U.S.) who helped Saddam rise to power. We didn't like that the previous government nationalized their oil.
Since 1963 Saddam was our guy. Even after Saddam killed thousands of civilians in the gas attacks of Halabja in 1988. We blamed that on Iran. lol We were the ones who supplied Iraq all the weapons.
So yeah, this song is based on half truths and western propaganda. Great tune though!!
