How to remove a 2005 yamaha v-star 650 silverado motorcycle carburetor and clean it. My motorcycle was sitting for about 6-8 months and the carbs became so filthy that the engine would only run with the choke fully open. even then it ran poorly. when your bike sits for a long period of time, you usually have to clean the carb.

  • Thank you, this was very helpful. I made a mistake and moved the screw that adjusts the choke. Any thoughts on how to get it back to how it should be? When I pushed the choke in after letting it warm up, the bike died. And wouldn't remain running unless I gave it some gas. I am hoping its an easy fix. Any thoughts would be awesome.

  • @capnhotsauce it kind of sounds like like the carb isnt completely cleaned. a clogged jet will cause the exact same thing youre talking about. i would recheck things. if youre using old dirty fuel and didnt clean things correctly, you may have done all that work in vain.

  • from what i saw, is, all you have to clean is that 1 jet you cleaned in part 2, is it possible to take the float bowls off the carbs without removing the carbs from the bike?

  • @highlifer64 depends on the carbs.

  • Quick question please help. I have the same exact leak from the idle adjustment screw. What can it be and what should I do. PLEASE help.

  • @BoStErO1905 my leak was from a gasket not a screw for idle adjustment. the idle adjustment screw should have no contact with fuel at all. its hooked up out side the carb to the throttle. are you talking about the air fuel mixture screw?

  • Thank you very much, that looks pretty simple now all I need to do is get an air compressor to blow out the jets,,LOL it's only money right?

I have guitar strings since I play one !

  • can you post a video or explain how to check and replace the final drive oil in a 650

  • Great set of videos. I have the exact same bike (even the same year). I let it sit for a year and now it won't idle without being fully choked and it dogs at low throttle settings. I got a quote of $160 to clean the carbs by a local dealer, but having watched you do it, I'm going to give it a shot myself. Thanks for taking the time to post this!

  • Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou, I have a 06 and I've been sweating doing this.

  • Thanks for this series of vids.....its been a great help

  • That was great. I have my carb apart and was wondering how to proceed to clean it. You had some great tips. This was a HUGE help.
