In the latest episode of The Sci-Fi Christian, Ben De Bono and Matt Anderson have their best debate yet. How does Batman line up with what the Bible teaches in Romans 13:1-5?

Jesus would have been on Batmans side hands down. Jesus never blindly submitted to the ruling authorities. His whole ministry was about going AGAINST the secular authority and doing the RIGHT thing. Jesus went against the Pharises amd later against the will of Rome, one man defying an empire. That to me sums up what Jesus' ministry was about. Doing the right thing, not what everyone else was doing.

Loved the debate. Another interesting question comes up, when one takes into consideration, that the knowledge that the hostages were actually the ones standing up, was gained by an ethically questionable way (the cell phone sonar thingy).

Plaid guy makes the mistake of not questioning his sources. Numbered guy does the right thing in taking the situation and common sense into account. This is called thinking for oneself. Something not promoted by the Bible, but certainly a sensible thing to do. Numbered guy demonstrates that good morality comes from looking at a situation and using one's brain. The Bible is (inadvertently but accurately) shown by this discussion to be obsolete as a source of morality.
