I can't imagine any "modern" comedy show taking the time (or having the courage) to produce a scene as quiet, sincere and touching as this! Sadly, we are now slaves to the laugh track and smut but, fortunately, the cream rises to the surface and endures. Fifty years old and just as good as the first time it was broadcast. Thank you Andy Griffiths and company for everything you've given us through the years.

RIP Andy Griffith and Don Knotts, two legends of my time! I learned some of my most valuable lessons from this show! They just don't make 'em like this anymore!

Not only that, she apparently made marmalade that smelled like natural gas leaking in the same episode. Fun fact: the episode we're talking about, "The Pickle Story" was Don Knotts' favorite episode.

Comedy like this just doesnt exist anymore, I Love Lucy, Dick van Dyke, Andy Griffith, man that was talent, people could actually sing and perform in these old goodies, I wish I grew up in a town like Mayberry.

Funny how TV was (and still is) so off-balance with settings & scripts to make a point. Just like how Aunt Bee was always very majestic with cooking meals, desserts and most everything, for the entire series. But in one rare episode, she couldn't make a friggin' PICKLE! Tasted like kerosene. That given, gotta always love The Andy Griffith Show.

You know what's funny about this? There was another episode where Barney wanted to sing with the town choir and he sang so badly they turned down his microphone. I didn't realize he could really sing until I heard him sing harmony with Andy on this one. Kind of ironic...
