Great, and I hope you post it sometime. This is the type of "history" that should be made available for all of those interested...to see.

I liked the video very much.
I just had a 16mm movie converted to dvd w/ old Covington,Ky. FD pumpers and a 60 Caddy ambulance at a parade in it that my mom shot sometime between 61-65.

Interesting note for those that may not know-the original "DU" in this vid sat for some years about 20 years ago behind the old "Brawlin Inn" at the intersection of Genoa & Southway in red primer paint. A friend of mine told me of it, as he was considering buying it at the time, but never did. I have no idea as to it's whereabouts now.

I've was commited to "Massillon State Hospital" (its now called Heartland Behavioral in December 2007. While they dont have their own Fire Department they do have their own Police department. My freind got arrested by them when I was in the libarary for kicking a door and slamming a nurses face against it.

WOW!! That's amazing. Hardly any traffic and whatever little traffic there was pulled over IMMEDIATELY. Try that today!!
Also nice classic Seagrave "Waterfall Grille" rigs.
-
Did the state hospital have it's own FD?
-
What is the music and who did it?
I think the 750 Seagrave Pumper is a 1945.

Nope...it is a 1941. We had a 1945/750 delivered in 1945. All of the rigs delivered during the "war years"...had NO CHROME (whatsoever), BELL OR HOOD ORNIMATE.

I am grateful for all the kind comments, thank you all. There were many "historic" film clips throughout the years, and it is a shame that quite a few were tossed out when the holder passed on, or were destroyed somehow. These are the "records" of how it was done by the brave firemen...prior to all the safety equipment and [so-called] modern apparatus of today. :-)

Cap. I viewed you website, and it is an excellent piece of work. Hope you are able to do some "video-posting" here in the future, as all this "stuff" is and will be part of the history of all departments for future generations.

How many stations did Massillon have in 1958?
I take it these were career Firefighters?
InteriorCommando 4 years ago
In 1958, there were 3 stations, with all career firefighters. Old Central Station (in the video) was constructed in 1894, and(unfortunately) demolished in 1970 for the new city hall complex. What a "classic" structure. But, this is typical of everything around there today..."smash everything down for more parking lots." :(
