Computers in the Classroom- Friend or Foe?

Do you bring your computer with you to class? I know I do, but just how effective is this tactic to the learning process? With sites like Facebook, twitter, and even webmail, bringing your computer to class can sometimes be rather distracting. While the College of Charleston has no set policies concerning the use of computers in classroom, a recent incident at Valdosta State University in Georgia has faculty discussing and rethinking computer restrictions.
