I find it rather surprising that VHS could feature a list of 100 greatest female singers of all time without the mentioning of Donna Summer or Ella Fitzgerald, all of whom were no doubt teenage icon in their time. Are they all gone and forgotten? what about the great return? The only conclusion is maybe they belong in another place and time.

Very well said. I love Adele but she has time yet. And Diana is a much better vocalist than she gets credit for. I saw her in concert a few years back and she was amazing.

Yes, I had no idea Donna was very ill with cancer. Also, my mother had this album back in the '70's, and the correct year of this song was 1976, not '77 like you said here because mom bought this album back then when it came out-It even said this all over the album.

If it's the 100 countdown I think you're talking about, I thought it was emphasized that they were focusing on the top female artists of the last 25 years or so. If that is the case then no, Donna Summer wouldn't be on the list as her reign "at the top" predates the timeline they were focusing on (which I believe was mid-80s to now).

of course there is broader classification of all-time best, which ought to include experts and veterians from the music field. not everyone who vote is qualified to be a judge in this category. persons like Dusty Springfield, Sandy Posey,Maxine Brown and even Mahalia Jackson were truly blessed with a unique talent and were a spectacle before the eyes of the world. to not be includedin the top 100 all time best is no gratification.I'm sure there's another list for best -ZION'S ROLL CALL.

It was one of the stupidest list I have ever seen...probably made up by someone under 30. Regardless a list of 100 women and to use the word greatest and have Adele sitting at number 4, by the list doesn't include Donna Summer who changed the face of pop music forever, Linda Ronstadt you became like a yardstick for the country/ rock artist and Diana Ross,you don't have to think Diana is a good vocalist but she sure had her day ! Dumb list ..
