55 year-old Vun Therm lives in a small, rural village in Koas Krala district, Battambang province, Cambodia. In November 2010, he received a chicken-rearing micro-business sponsored by the Canadian Landmine Foundation. Funds were used to provide chickens and materials to build a large chicken coop. On October 20th, 2011 Lisa and Pauline of A Mine Free World Foundation visit his small home and are surprised to learn of his artistic talents! He spends hours carving and smoothing old, interestingly-shaped tree roots into beautiful works of art! He sells them at the market, but when we came by, we decided to buy one - price was $6 - so we thought - He immediately shoved all three pieces at us - It was $6 for ALL THREE of these lovely carvings. Lisa and Pauline for www.aminefreeworld.org - having fun shopping in the villages!
