The Evening Edition. Short... 55 seconds at about 7 pm.
They had been going since about 2:30 and were STILL going when I left at 7:30
The police and business interests think THESE people are a problem...
But Santa Cruz' big money-maker, it's bar scene catering to student binge drinkers and sundry predators/sociopaths IS the big problem... as illustrated by this event that took place near the wannabe biker-bar action places where the college students go 'slumming', at the lower end of Pacific just a few hours later, and it's not even the weekend.

SANTA CRUZ - Two men were shot near lower Pacific Avenue at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday in a possible drug deal gone bad, police said.
One man who appeared to be in his 20s was found in front of Bonesio Liquors on Pacific at Laurel Street and had a gunshot wound to the leg, according to emergency dispatchers. The second man, also apparently in his 20s, was found in front of Saturn Cafe across the street. He had been shot in the leg, the groin and the hand, according to emergency dispatchers.

The 'fern bars' aren't much better.
