@Retarior i was wondering if is Lady Morte : O !!!

@orcslayer32 ...innovative artists including Portishead, Lamb, and Bjork. Radiohead could even be considered in this genre (admittedly 'spotty' esp. in lyrical content but i respect their ability to experiment & challenge the norm).
as for 'rock', that's a rather vague and broad label.. it comes in many varieties, there's indie, alt, goth, progressive, punk, hard, metal, and traditional 'rock & roll'.. all have their up's and down's .. some inspirational, and yes, some just plain 'trash'...

@orcslayer32 your 'short life' has taught you well ;) i think you are right.. in general, but each of those genres have produced brilliant artists (some much fewer than others mind you).. rap, for instance, has k-os who brings the genre to another level thru diversity & improvisation & his msgs are positive (he's basically the antithesis of his genre), hip-hop has... well ok, can't think of 1 at the moment, but trip-hop, which is a variation of it, has many innovative artists..

@sirGiedion songs of this "trashy" variety that you are speaking of are usually centered around rap hip hop and rock... or so i have heard throughout my short life

Who is that girl on the picture? I think she looks familiar xD.

@soulofartemis I agree with almost everything you said except "no music is trash" ... I would clarify by saying "no music genre is trash" ... because sure enough, there are trashy songs out there. Songs with no intellectual value or creativity, or those that promote hatred or division are prime candidates. So yeah, we should show respect, but only if the song or band itself is respectful towards others...

@IrishCelticPrincess First off, let me say that I LOVE this music. But I also love other genres of music. There is beauty in everything that springs from pure creativity. Granted there are the imitators, the hacks, the wannabe's out there, but if a song has a honest story to be told or effectively evokes emotion (alliteration not intended! ;) , then it's alright in my books. This also applies to 'modern stuff', if you look hard enough.. but that depends on what your defn of that term is.

@soulofartemis well said

Well, I think everyone has his or her own tast and should be respected as such. No music is trash all is created from creative minds and sprung from the creators heart. So even if you don't like a kind of music I think you still could show some respect for another persons creativity and heart.

generally speaking i agree with you but the matter is not respecting or not other people's tastes...i am not here to say what people should or should not listen to. just let me tell you this- in my life i came across a lot of people who simply follow fashion and mass tastes (without thinking with their own head...) and they themselves! were always ready to judge everybody who has different, let's say non-conformist tastes...that's reality, be aware of it
