On August 22, 2011, me and Adam (CSX6000) decided to chase Pennsylvania Northeastern (PANE) as they head up the ex CSX exx Reading Bethlehem Branch. chasing it from Lansdale, PA to Telford, PA and back. PANE is a sub operation of New Hope and Ivyland, and recently bought the CSX Lansdale Cluster from CSX, which abolished the B738 job, and the C746 job became based out of Woodbourne Yard. Anyway, the symbol they use for this job is L160 (L for Lansdale), and they used PANE SD40-2 5577 (ex CP, on "lease" from NH&I), along with PANE C39-8 8212 (Ex NS exx CR, also on lease from NH&I). 5577 has a very bad P3, while 8212 has a fantastic K5LA.

Notice that as the L160 prepares to arrange the 8212 and 5577 back to back for the trip back to Lansdale, while in Telford, some local residents decided to take matters into their own hands and complain to the crews about hor they blow their horns too loud, and how they run later then when CSX owned the cluster. They made some stupid claims too, saying me and Adam where in a conspiracy with the government and the railroad. Well, whatever lol, but I will put some annotations in the video for the things they said, well, what I understood anyway.

I hope you enjoy this video!

  • Who goes to bed at 8 PM anymore? And as that engineer says, laws are laws. Great vid!

  • @indie1361 Exactly! Thanks man.

  • If I was that engineer I would lay on the horn coming through there everytime now...

  • @nikosjk1 This guy was pretty funny, I bet he will!

  • Dan this was a great video, and the commentary by the local townsfolk was priceless! We'll have to catch these guys going down the mainline at some point.

  • @CSX6000 Thanks, Adam, these guys cracked me up lol, and that would be great!

  • Who's that guy yelling at 17:00?

  • its mandatory that the engineer blows a crossing for at least 15-20 seconds if the tapes show that he was cutting it short all night long because of some angry neighbors then the engineer is fired. Its part of his job and those dumbasses chose to live there

  • @richluce18974 There was no merger with ESPN. The PNRR is a independent operation not affiliated with ESPN or the NH&I. The NH&I still shifts all of its customers in Ivyand and Warminster and the ESPN still runs the railroad north of Third St in Telford.

  • 5577 has been kept at the Street Road crossing for months. Now with the merger of freight operations with East Penn and taking over the Lansdale cluster, it's busy elsewhere.

One of my friends who is a amateur radio operator has a photo of himself standing in

front of 5577 as his QSL card (card to mail out to confirm a radio contact). He is also a rail fan.

  • Wait...is this a new operation of New Hope and Ivyland? Why did CSX give up operating it? Is East Penn still running out of Quakertown? With CSX out of the picture, they seriously should start thinking about starting a new tourist train. They could use some ex-LI coaches that the NH&I has, the more modern ones but with open windows. The new commuter rail project up to Qtown and a bit beyond is really horsing around.

  • @trainutjob People like that piss me off. Great to see an old C39-8 working again!

  • @cheechchongfan97 Don't try to talk sense my friend, all this person wants to do is insult our hobby and make fun of us. Not worth your time to try and talk any sense into them.

  • If I ever get to work for the PANE, I will be sure to lay down on the horn in Telford.

  • lol That engineer told him! lol
