What a lovely cast. Sarah talks about hand surgery to repair ulnar nerve, which was damaged when she stabbed herself in the heel of her dominant hand while doing dishes. Knife accident happened on January 17th, 2010. This video was recorded Monday, February 2nd, 2010, a week after surgery.

I have seizures, and after lying in the floor for a prolonged time after an event, My hand symptoms are exactly like yours. I pray when my dr comes back from holiday, He can just give me steroids to reduce the inflamation. I just had to have the other arm fixed from the after math of a seizure injury. I had a distal radial fx repair and carpal tunnel surgery on that arm two weeks ago. Please no more surgery!!

hi, im 16 years of age and ive had problems with my arm for a while now, doctors say it may be ulnar nerve damage, and im scared. i wouldn`t want an operation to sort my arms out, but for the time being what would i be able to do, to calm the pins and needles and the numbness?.

Happy to read your surgery turned out well. You had mentioned earlier that you play the flute. Are you able to play again?

As of Sept. 4, 2011, hand feels great. You'd never know I had an injury. I notice a little weakness & squeezing pinkie & ring fingers together is a bit slow/weak, but I've had FULL & COMPLETELY NORMAL function since 1 yr after surgery (Jan. 2010). I healed quickly because, after surgery, the nerve had to repair itself just a few inches -- from heel of my hand to fingertips. Some tingling after writing a lot, but my function is fantastic. 95% of the time, I forget there was ever anything wrong!

Oh! and...
Honestly, I think the doc says 70% of my hand will come back as a just-in-case maneuver (so that I won't freak out if my recovery isn't stellar). I suspect I'll do much better than that. Whenever I can start PT, I'll give it my all. I think you'll do fabulously. Don't fret about the outcome and just try your ass off in PT - that's my strategy.

Hi! I had surgery on January 25th (2010) and was put in a cast. They gave me a fresh/new cast when they removed the stitches a week later. I think the cast comes off on March 4th, so it'll be about 5 to 6 weeks of cast. I think they'll probably give me a brace next.
