For this weeks photo of the week I run down how I captured this candid shot of a very cute little girl. You will see everything from start to finish from how it was shot to how the RAW file was edited in Lightroom 3.

  • Jared...why Lightroom and not Camera Raw/Photoshop for editing?

  • @1995Benzo for organizing my files but its the same as camera raw in photo shop.

  • I think if we're talking candids then cutting off some hair is totally fine because what captures the parent's heart is the look on their childs face in action. Emotion is captured through the eyes and face. A few strands of hair isn't going to make or break the overall composition. Of course this is only my opinion.

  • Hate it. Grass looks neon

  • Hey Jared, great tutorial. Looking for one of your older ones with a kid on a tricycle looking up at the soft box in B&W. Can ya help me?

  • Wow; 100 contrast

    Good eye.

  • BOOM

  • Looks Great! When it's sunny I usually use a PL Filter on my Canon 70-200 and it also create that vignetting effect. Saturation on the images are always good if you have green in the background. thanks!

  • Sorry, I meant chopping off... my bad!

  • Shopping off the hair a little is not a big deal here. To much space off it is. The story is that she's looking into someone or something which is good; and I think you'd go like... what she looking at? and for me, that makes it. Good one!

  • cutting the hair was not that bad but if you had included the hairs then you could have followed old rule of third 100%. The car behind have given a perfect composition that is why i like that photo.
