"Kenzo in Space" is an ongoing performance project investigation.
It was made in close collaboration with dancers Kenzo Kusuda, Isabelle Chaffaud, costume designer, Jookje and sound designer, Joris Jan Bos.
the idea behind "Kenzo in Space" is to explore space with movement as if it were the first time the space was experienced. it is an improvization with the location as its score.
the costumes create limitations which give the performer a new skin meant to heighten the (alien) experience of new space.
It has been performed in the Hague, Rosazza, Italy for the Biarteca Festival, Durban for the Jomba Festival and in Cape Town.
The costumes were designed by Jookje Zweedijk and the location is a tunnel passage in the small town of Rosazza in the Italian Alps.
The piece is extremely location oriented as it is meant to be a structured improvisation with the space as a type of score.
