This project was developed to help foster the continuing growth of lacrosse by providing a learning tool to supplement regular practices and games. Young players are encouraged to watch this DVD with their parents and on their own and study the details of the presentation. Studies prove what we already know to be true - video is a very powerful method of teaching and learning physical skills. Kids learn by watching and imitating and, while they need practice to hone these skills, it is a great advantage to be able to be able to assimilate information while quiet, relaxed and focused.
This is also a guide for parents and parent coaches. Lacrosse is growing rapidly and many are new to the game. Parents need to be able to understand the basics in order to encourage their kids and relate to them about the sport they are falling in love with. Kids love it when they can perform for their parents and have them really appreciate what they are working so hard at. Likewise, many parents are volunteering to coach who didn't play the game themselves. These parents quite often make great coaches, they just need a little help with some of the finer points and a list of drills and plays to work on.
There is nothing better than being part of a quality organization with a powerful positive message. Every player, parent and coach can do their part to uphold this tradition by committing themselves to improving their individual skills and knowledge.

I've been taught by all-american lax coaches...not one would say to stay in a low arch on a 1v1...don't teach kids the wrong thing...TOP OF THE CREASE...MIRROR THE HEAD OF THE STICK!!! That's all that needed to be said

@Productionporter im sorry i am in the same position as you. i save 50 to 70 percent of the goals when i stay in the crease and dont move at all i watch the ball. if you step out you are making a sixty to seventy mile per hour ball seem like its going a lot faster and please dont get pissy i am saying my opinion

@Bassxassassinx777 I'm in seventh grade and i play varsity too, but there are other goalies... im just better. I agree with this guy but you don't play in your net you step out to the top of the crease, don't leave the crease but step up to the top.

I'm in seventh grade but I play goalie for varsity because there are no goalies in my league. I used to run out and hit the person, but now I make myself as big as I can, I save 50 percent of the shots

@bte53 your deffinatly right, i play Jv n my defencemen sucks thats the only reason i go out, everytime i do i cover their head it works but i only hit them if their being a speedy gonzales :D

@bte53 your absolutely right. I'm only in 8th grade but i play JV and anytime theres a 1v1 you never want to come out. The attackman can just loft it over you right as you come after him, which is why you just need to stay big and shadow his stick. it doesn't matter if you knock the attackman on his ass, if he scores, its on you. You need to stay in the goal, and either get a stick save up high, or make him hit it off your leg or anything to stop the ball. you want to step out, but not come out.

@MrKillers1997 im a senior and play varsity goalie at my school, and i have to tell you that when it comes to a close up 1v1 situation, going out to hit them is the worst thing you could do. you have to stay in a good stance, wait through the fakes, and step to the ball when it is shot. remember in a 1v1 the attackman has the advantage and is supposed to score. its our jobs as goalies to make the save and make him regret taking you on.

He is right I learned my lesson if you go charging out at the shooter he is just going to bury the shot around you for a goal, stay put the last possible minute stay Big as you can to the cage, You still want to step toward the shot when it is actually taken
