Also known as "I'm a man you don't meet everyday". Traditional Scottish song. This song is covered by many but I really like the tune and the words. This is the traditional version and The Pogues is a little different and ominous as the man in the song shoots his dog rather than goes hunting with him. I'm also a little bit surprised that Brandy is mentioned rather than whisky as the area of the Spey is know for its whisky distilleries. (Notice "whisky" instead of the Irish "Whiskey" but thats a whole 'nuther story!)

@muzikamuz The song (words) would be Scottish. At least seeing that he goes hunting by the River Spey - in Scotland. (at least thats the way i understand it) I couldn't say where the original tune (music) came from.

@jayrbee60, Really ? I have seen other lyrics : So I took up my dog, and him I did shoot, all down in the county KILDARE...( Near from Dublin ).

Well, let's forget it, no matter from where that tune comes, it's a beautiful song, and you play it awesome.
