the amount of money VFX studios get payed usually barely cover the costs of making the effects. VFX studios also don't get a share of the films profits. no matter how well a film does the VFX companies don't benefit from it. worse the VFX industry is hyper competitive, if you demand more money to make a film a film company will just go to someone else and you've just lost an entire films worth of pay. a lot of VFX company employees have been known to regularly work unpaid overtime also.

OMG was so enjoying that when the editor's note just hit me in the face. So sad. Truly some of the best visual effects I have EVER seen! These visual effects companies should be getting paid what actors are being paid. These films wouldn't be the same without industries like them.
