During my 20+ years in the classroom, I heard any number of superintendent/principal Welcome Back to School speeches. This is by far THE BEST ! Even though this speech is only 10 minutes long, I found myself crying and laughing through every minute. What a gamut of emotions one experiences listening to Dr. Huff. How lucky that district is to have a leader like himself.
Thank you to all of the Joplin R-VIII school district, volunteers, contractors, and any one else that has helped us get our schools in time for our students. I know as a parent I am very excited to see what this year brings for our children. Through this disaster a chance to grow has truly appeared. May all of us have a wonderful school year!
I am so glad that the kids in our community get to return to some sort of normalcy... they need it. We all need it. If it wasn't for all the volunteers coming from all over the nation (and 1 from Japan!!) to help us, it would have been much harder for us I think. But the fact that in this time of crisis we all banded together to help each other out really says something for our community. I LOVE JOPLIN!!
