The Village Reforestation & Advancement Initiative aims to build replicable, community-based models to address desertification ("desert creep") through the community-led development of forest belts, sustainable agricultural lands, and local industries to create a platform for restoring the environment, the region's natural resources, and a vibrant local economy.
Desertification has become an environmental crisis of global magnitude, projected to affect approximately one third of the earth's land surface, home to about two billion people. This causes a severe chain reaction that devastates natural resources and a region's economy, infrastructure, and much more. The rampant spread of desertification has resulted in the destruction of agricultural lands, resource depletion, and in some cases, escalation of political tensions, such as the case in Darfur.
The Village Reforestation & Advancement Initiative provides villagers the opportunity to restore their lives and gain self-sufficiency. We can work together as a global community to create sustainable solutions to desertification. Join us today! Please visit www.AidStillRequired.org
