A young grape vine has three shoots reaching the top wire so let's remove one promoting more vigor in the remaining two shoots.

  • Good point about doing it earlier. Perhaps I was thinking about an extra spare tire (lots of rabbits around) or perhaps it was a neglected vine.

  • cut that cardboard tube down a few inches, it is keeping the sun from a lot of your leaves and i doubt the rabbits would reach that high.

  • Good info but why wait so long to choose a training shoot. If you have done this earlier, all the energy could have been used to get your training shoots to reach the trellis wires earlier
