In 1990, film director Tim Burton created a character for Johnny Depp that touched the hearts of millions. Now, through the magic of Matthew Bourne, Edward Scissorhands is back to make your spirits soar.

This enchanting, uplifting, record-breaking stage adaptation of the classic motion picture swept UK and US audiences off their feet, turning a film favourite into a theatrical triumph.

Following in the footsteps of his smash-hit Swan Lake, multi-award winning director/choreographer Matthew Bourne uses music, movement and stage magic to tell the story of a boy left alone and unfinished by the eccentric inventor who created him.

Transforming tired gardens into triumphs of topiary, treating desperate housewives to haircuts with a difference, and shaping spectacular ice sculptures out of snowstorms, Edward quickly becomes the local hero. But not everyone can see past the scars and scissors to see the beauty and innocence within...

A magical fairytale. A moving love story. A major stage spectacular for the whole family. Edward Scissorhands comes to life in May 2008.

  • I went to see it in Brisbane in 2008. I absoultely adored it! Not only is it one of my favorite movies, it is now one of my favorite stage shows. The music was fantastic, the actors were amazing and the ending was so moving. I would highly recommended it to anyone. I loved the ending, it made me cry! The whole show was a dazzling fantasia! One of the best pieces of theatre in 2008!

  • I LOVED the ending of this show SOO much! it was SO GOOD!!!

it was quite different to the movie though. but i guess u just have to take it for a unique piece of theatre. the enjoyment goes out of it if u just keep comparing it to the movie. they are different but they are both great!

  • ich find den darsteller hässlich alsu bei dem musical

der edward im film sied besser aus =3 ( die rüsstung is au ganz anderst ._. )

  • This is a Ballet Adaption, there is no dialogue or "musical Numbers" per se, Its all dancing. they class it as a "Dancesical" so you wont have to worry about a German Version, it would be the same everywhere.

  • hello everyone :)

edward scissorhands is my favourite movie, since i am 5 years old. i had no idea, that there is a musical-adaption of the movie. unfortunately i live in germany, so i can´t watch the show at the moment, but maybe there will be a german version of it soon. i hope so very much :)

greetings to all the fans (of the movie, the musical, tim burton and johnny depp) out there :)

  • Me too!

I saw it in Brisbane as well and it was so amazing! You're right- one of the best pieces of theatre in 2008.

I have to say, QPAC was the perfect venue for it.

*sigh* The dancing was so mesmerising.

I wish it would come back! :)

  • I loved the movie and I just think the stage production does not quite there - the heart-felt romance in the movie is lost.

  • Went to see it in sydney opera house in June it was amazing and would highly recommend it. What a performance and hard work put in by everybody who was involved in it.
