The GAP is NOT a 'dummy load'! Actually, it works quite well, except on the lowest band it is rated for. I know. I've owned 2 of them.

I have to agree. There's something definitely wrong with the installation of the GAP. I Use both a Hustler 5BTV and a Hex Beam and it's hit or miss on which one performs better. On DX more often then not the Hustler is better because it has a much lower take off angle. The Hex is up 33 feet and more often then not it does better state side.
With that said the Hex has the benefit of directionality which allows me to null out strong stations.

@Tritone217 Remember difference between S-units on HAM radio meters can be just 2-3dB. In addition you have up to 20dB difference between vertical and horisontal polarity. Also the angle the signal hits from the sky can be significant.

I wonder how a hexbeam would compare to a 'junior' type beam on 20/15/10 meters, like the Mosley TA-32 Junior? From what I understand, the hexbeam has 2 elements, as does a 'junior beam' like the TA-32 Junior.

FIVE S Units? At 6db/S unit that would be 30db. Even 3db/S unit or 15db is not believable. Where was the verticle? Feedline? Condition? Height? Obstructions? A properly functioning vertical vs a properly function hex beam under the same conditions I might buy 5 or 6db on the hex beam.
Now side and back rejection would be a different story.
Something is not quite kosher with this test...
