As we sailed out to the place to lay our family members' ashes to rest, a pod of thousands of dolphins came in to greet our ship. They spanned the horizon, swimming up to the boat in swarms, breaching the surface, then escorted our ship back to the harbor. The sight was absolutely awe-inspiring and left everyone on board breathless (including the Captain). Our grandmother's favorite song, Moon River, played as we stood in absolute awe spreading the ashes and watching the dolphins for as far as we could see. We could not imagine a better way to say goodbye to our loved ones. . .enjoy.
@Danrs45 No helping what a fool chooses to believe. That they "happened" to be there MIGHT have made sense, but then why would they go back with the boats when there was no food in it for them? They're not some Pavlovian reactionary creature.
When I was ill and sailing, I came across a large pod (about 100) that was feeding. One would have to wonder why then, about a dozen of them broke off from the pod to stay with my little sailboat all the way to the mouth of the harbor. Coincidence? No.

@Dancers 45
I disagree. There's no such thing as coincidence. Spiritual blessings are commonplace to those who deserve it. This individual and his family were touched by the hand of the Creator that day.

This is so beautiful, I cried too when I watched it. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. As LadyLillianContessa said so eloquently, I too hope I can be given a send-off like this when my time comes.
The Andy Williams song with this couldn't have been more perfect, I love that song. I agree that the dolphins were there for you, they're the most beautiful and intelligent animals on our planet.
Thank you again for sharing.

@MimiZ914
No offense MimiZ914 but the dolphins didn't KNOW there was going to be a funeral. It was a beautiful thing for the family that the dolphins happened to be there. Dolphins are alive and they LOVE to eat, that is what they were doing.

I cried when I saw this. THe dolphins knew your loved one was going home and they were there for you all as well. Beautiful -and it lets us all know how loving and alive these beings are - just like your grandma.
