From How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is a musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, based on Shepherd Mead's 1952 book of the same name.
In 1961, the show opened on Broadway, initially running for 1,417 performances. The show won seven Tony Awards and the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 1967, a film based on the musical was released by United Artists, with many of the original cast recreating their roles. A 1995 revival was mounted on Broadway starring Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullally.

I saw How To Succeed at the Shubert in Philly fifty years ago. I was very excited to see this show mainly because of Bobby Morse, having been blown away by his performances in "Say Darling" and "Take Me Along" and from the moment he was lowered onto the stage from the scaffold in the opening number he owned that stage and that role which fit him like a glove. I saw Broderick in the nineties but no one could ever come close to what Morse brought to the role.

This special was originally called "Showstoppers: The Best of Broadway" and premiered on the pay cable Entertainment Channel in 1982. For home video release it was retitled "That's Singing: The Best of Broadway." In 1985 it was shown on PBS "Great Performances".

Robert Morse is THE J. Pierrepont Finch. The only other version I've seen is Matthew Broderick's, and he was fine. I'm sure Dan Radcliffe did great, too. Sometimes, though, nothing beats an original.

darren criss is taking over for several weeks, and then Nick Jonas is taking over after that. But, I agree. I haven't seen either radcliffe or broderick live, but from what I've heard/seen on youtube, they don't quite match morse.
