TX 6 May 2010~Welcome back to part two of our interview with Australian paleoclimatologist, Professor Bob Carter. In his new book, he argues against the theoretical science which is fuelling the global warming debate and also why he thinks that western countries, like New Zealand, have landed themselves right in the middle of a political volcano.
We pick up the interview on our discussion about the recent international global warming conference in Copenhagen.
@ReduceGHGs All the way up until NASA blew a hole into the notion.

@DragonsAutumn Of course there's profit to be made, that's capitalism. The question is what do you believe about the core issue and how credible, how reliable is the evidence? It is a fact that every one of our respected scientific institutions concluded that we humans are warming the planet and that the consequences are not good. So bob carter is dead wrong and many, many studies prove it. And yes, it is capitalism (the profit motive) that is the most effective tool to change our behaviors.

@ReduceGHGs The point is there's profit being for and against global warming.

@DragonsAutumn Who care what Al Gore is into. He isn't a scientist and has come up with NO climate predictions. None! All he has done is spread the word about what the most respected scientific studies have determined. Want the links? bob carter on the other hand passes himself off as an expert. He isn't. He has no studies that relate to how humans have or have not affected climate, he has vested interest ties, and his field is MARINE GEOLOGY, specifically, the study of ANCIENT climates.

@ReduceGHGs Al Gore has some profitable ties of his own.

@busguy100 .
What you mean is that there is no proof you will accept. Computer models are helpful but are NOT the foundation of the research.
And sorry, your opinion without credible source support is a baseless belief. Where's your evidence?

@ReduceGHGs There is no proof co2 is anything except a very minor trace gas except in computer models.

@RancheroBFT Why care about the future? Here's why. Many years from now when you are less than a memory all that will remain of you will be our future generations. So perhaps considering it a matter of self-preservation is reasonable. You now have the freedom to TAKE a healthy habitat from those that will need it. Do you have that right? SHOULD you have that right? Caring for others as well as yourself is at the core of our existence. Loosing sight of that is self-destructive.

@ReduceGHGs Why should I care about the future? We have enough important probs in the present to deal with.
I only hate those that want to restrict my life and freedom because of some CO2 emissions, that have no major impact on climate at all. I really wonder what makes you give a shit about it.

@RancheroBFT There's no such thing as a trustworthy source? What tha? Have you no faith in you fellow man?
Do you really hate those that want to protect the only habitat our future generations will have to sustain them?
Sadly, I think you just lack information. Try reading why it's important for humans live sustainably. Consider the long-term consequences of the alternatives. Or maybe you think it's your right to TAKE from our future generations? No, you haven't thought it through.
